A Little about Ms. Chew...
I attended Brooks as a kid in the 80's. It has been wonderful being back and have loved being here as an adult. My teaching career has taken me many places, far and near. I graduated from Guilford College and started teaching in Charlotte, North Carolina as a Kindergarten teacher for 2 years. I then moved back to Raleigh and taught Kindergarten for four more years at Yates Mill Elementary School, in Cary. Then I made one of the best decisions of my career and came back to Brooks in the 05-06 school year. I taught first grade one year and then have been in the position as the Science Lab MIT since.
I have been to Belize (picture on Left) and Yellowstone National Park with the Educators of Excellence with the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. I love seeing the students here at Brooks get excited and engaged in the different science fields.

My favorite Educational quotes:
· “If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in.” – Rachel Carlson
· “You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within himself." – Galileo Galilei
· “Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it, we go nowhere.” – Carl Sagan
And For Fun...
· “I’ve come to conclude that Fettucini Alfredo is just Mac and Cheese for food snobs.” -Neil deGrasse Tyson
